The wife of a Houston firefighter has been arrested and charged with trying to hire a hit man to kill her paramedic firefighter husband.
Brittany Rachelle Martinez is confined to the Harris County Jail without bond after her Tuesday arrest on a capital murder solicitation charge. At the Martinez arraignment Thursday, prosecutor Paula Hartman said the 24-year-old Martinez gave $1,000 to a friend to kill husband Adrian Martinez. Hartman says Brittany Martinez, who also is a paramedic, promise another $1,000 after the killing.
Hartman said Martinez wanted her husband killed near his fire station to make his death look "work-related."
Defense attorney George Parnham says he was still investigating the allegations against Brittany Martinez, which he told the Houston Chronicle was "a bizarre scenario."
