His name is music to the ears of Aggies past and present. Now, it also adorns a brand new music school in downtown Bryan.

Former Aggie Band Director Col. Joe T. Haney was the guest of honor at a ribbon cutting Tuesday at the Brazos Arts Music School. Col. Haney directed the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band from 1973-1989.

As a tribute, one of the rooms of the new school will bear his name and reflect his many accomplishments. "The plaque is just absolutely gorgeous," Haney said. "I'll never, ever, ever forget this day. This is an honor to be here and I'm thrilled to do it."

Col. Haney's room contains priceless photos and mementos from his days leading the Noble Men of Kyle.
