Texas A&M University President Elsa Murano will be the commencement speaker Wednesday (May 6) when 57 Texas A&M University at Qatar (TAMUQ) students receive their engineering degrees.
Commencement ceremonies at the Texas A&M branch campus will be followed the next day by the 2009 Student Affairs Leadership and Student Achievement Celebration for TAMUQ students, faculty and staff. A highlight of the ceremony will be the presentation of Aggie rings to eligible students.
Other students and organizations will be cited for their services and accomplishments, including presentation of awards for the Student Organization of the Year and Student Organization Advisor of the Year and special recognition for the basketball and soccer teams. Additionally, the Student Employee of the Year will be formally recognized, as will recipients of the Buck Weirus Spirit Award, 12th Man Award, Gathright Scholar Award, Quill Award, Emerging Leader Award and the Richard E. Ewing Award for Excellence in Student Research.
