Dr. Robert G. Stanton has been appointed deputy assistant secretary of the policy, management and budget in the U.S. Department of the Interior, according to a release from the department. Stanton was appointed by Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar.
Stanton is executive professor in the department of recreation, park and tourism sciences in the Texas A&M University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
As a faculty member since 2001, Stanton’s expertise is in policy, planning and operations management. He also was a visiting professor at Howard University and Yale University. From 1997 to 2001, he was director of the National Park Service.
He is a graduate of Huston-Tillotson University in Austin and has received honorary doctorate degrees from Texas A&M, Unity College, Southern University and Huston-Tillotson.
