Appointments of a new vice president and associate provost for diversity and deans of architecture and geosciences at Texas A&M University were formally confirmed Friday (July 17) by The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents.
Dr. Christine Stanley is the university’s new vice president and associate provost for diversity, with her appointment effective immediately. She currently serves as executive associate dean for faculty affairs and professor of educational administration and human resource development in the College of Education and Human Development. She has been a member of the Texas A&M faculty since 1999.
Dr. Jorge Vanegas is the new dean of architecture, with his appointment also effective immediately. He has been serving as interim dean for the past year. He joined the university in 2006 as professor of architecture and director of the Center for Housing and Urban Development.
Dr. Kate C. Miller, currently professor of geophysics and former associate dean of the College of Science at the University of Texas at El Paso, will be the new dean of geosciences, effective Aug. 17. In addition to serving as dean of the College of Geosciences, she will oversee Texas A&M’s participation in the Integrated Ocean Drilling Program, the Texas Sea Grant Program and the Geochemical and Environmental Research Group.
