First Yell Weekend, now in its 11th year at Texas A&M University, begins Friday (Sept. 4) with an essentially sold-out evening performance by comedian Jeff Dunham at 8 p.m. in Reed Arena. Officials say, however, a small number of seats may be available and, if so, will go on sale Monday (Aug. 31) at 2 p.m. If available, these tickets will be offered at the Kyle Field and Reed Arena Box Offices, online at https://www.12thmanfoundation.com/ or by calling (888)99-AGGIE.
Dunham will perform along with the comedic cast of characters he has created such as Walter the grumpy retiree, Bubba J, Peanut, José Jalepeño and Achmed the Dead Terrorist.
Entertainment at Reed Arena on Friday evening will also include opening performances by Aggie student groups, including the Singing Cadets, Aggie Wranglers, Fade to Black and Percussion Studio.
The evening will end with Midnight Yell Practice at Kyle Field.
The weekend is hosted by the Texas A&M yell leaders, who began the tradition in 1999 as a way of welcoming all Aggies, current and former students, back to campus to begin a new school year. It will conclude with Texas A&M’s season opener with New Mexico. The game begins at Kyle Field at 6 p.m. Saturday (Sept 5).
