It's finally game week as another college football season fires up at Texas A&M.
Ground keepers helped ready Kyle Field, marking yard lines and end zones for the season opening game action against New Mexico 6p.m. Saturday. The preparations come as the A&M athletic department makes some security changes.
According to A&M, the changes will be minor, just two or three University Police officers will be pulled from game-day work and replaced with unarmed guards through the company A&M contracts with.
The changes were part of many discussions aimed at reducing costs in the athletic department, and those new unarmed guards would go in low-risk, low-traffic areas of Kyle Field.
Personnel from a number of local agencies are used by A&M on game days.
Aggie Gameday broadcasts will begin 4 p.m. Saturday on the CW Texas.
