COLLEGE STATION - Five Texas A&M University football players got in touch with their feminine side to help out a fellow Aggie.
A.J. Hilliard, Boone Niederhofer, Brice Dolezal, Conner McQueen and Taylor Martinez demonstrated 3D fiber lash mascara that A&M sophomore Brooke McManus is selling to help pay for an internship to Zambia, Africa this summer.
"I'll get to be the hands and feet of Jesus," McManus said. "I'll get to love on and serve sweet orphans all summer. I have a heart for kids, so getting to combine that with my love for missions is a dream for me!"
McManus said she has always had a passion for serving others, but is humbled by the lengths her friends are going to see her dream come true. She said she wasn't surprised when the brave volunteers offered their services.
"I knew that they would be willing to help me out, especially since it was for a good cause!" McManus said. "All of them are awesome guys and we all had a blast doing it!"
Aggie quarterback Conner McQueen has known McManus since first grade, and was willing to have longer, thicker lashes for one of his good friends.
"Going to Africa has been a dream of Brooke's for a long time, so I'm really excited she's finally getting to go," McQueen said. But that doesn't mean he will be wearing mascara again anytime soon.
"It was definitely a weird feeling; I don't know how girls do it every day." McQueen said after trying out his lush lashes for the first time.
McManus still has to raise a lot of money for her trip. If mascara is not for you, an account has been set up to donate funds for her mission trip. One hundred percent of the proceeds raised will go towards her internship with Every Orphan's Hope.
