COLLEGE STATION- A Texas A&M Board Regent says he'd like to see an extension of Kyle Field's name with a reference to Johnny Football.
At a news conference Monday at Kyle Field, updating the $450-million expansion project, Regent Jim Schwertner suggested a lot of people are responsible for this whole project, including former students and current students.
And he also said a lot of credit for people donating to this project goes to A&M Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel.
Schwertner said, "You know the stars came together..we talked about this project for a long, long, time, but none of us were sure how quickly we could pay for this project. And because of a young men by the name of Johnny Manziel, we were able to raise all the money in 2 months. My vision is someday I hope that the Aggie Nation will come together and decide that we can revise the name of Kyle Field to Kyle Field, the house that Johnny built. Thank you.
A&M System Chancellor John Sharp quickly added, "I bet you make some press on that one. (laughs)"
Sharp along with a number of other A&M officials and project managers held a topping out ceremony for workers to celebrate the completion of the framework of the highest part of the expansion.

A&M and Manhattan-Vaughn Construction say 1st phase construction is on track to be finished by the beginning of the upcoming football season.
