Colleges Levy Restaurants Work With
TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY A company that provides food services for some of the most famous sports venues in the country will be working with Texas A&M at all its athletics facilities.
Friday, the university announced it had signed a contract with Levy Restaurants for food and hospitality operations at Kyle Field, Reed Arena, Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park and other facilities in what the university calls "the largest and best athletic facility agreement in the US collegiate market."
According to A&M, it's a 12-year deal that includes $1.75 million in capital investment and more than $18 million in bonuses and advance commissions.
“Levy’s creativity and unmatched expertise in the sports and entertainment world will have a dramatic impact on our fans and the community as a whole,” said A&M Interim President Mark Hussey in a statement. “Their passion for building relationships with local partners and commitment to creating a dynamic experience will undoubtedly help us set a new standard in collegiate sports.”
The university has a contract with Compass USA for food services across campus, but A&M says athletics facilities were excluded.
Among the sporting venues Levy serves are Wrigley Field in Chicago, Dodger Stadium and STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami and Churchill Downs in Louisville. Its website lists six universities the company works with: Iowa State, Ohio State, Purdue, Colorado-Boulder, Missouri, and Wisconsin-Madison.
“We love the rich tradition of Texas A&M and share their uncompromising pursuit of excellence,” said Levy Restaurants President and CEO Andy Lansing in the statement. “We are thrilled to create an authentic experience that honors the spirit of the 12th Man and to welcome each and every guest with great food and warm hospitality.”
Levy officials will reportedly consult with parties working on the $450 million Kyle Field redevelopment to create new options for food and hospitality at the stadium.
Levy Restaurants is based out of Chicago.
