News 3's Steve Fullhart is scheduled to interview an orbiting Col. Fossum on Friday, July 29. Portions of the interview will air throughout that evening's newscasts and here at KBTX.com.
Some tweets could be characterized as "out of this world," but an Aggie astronaut has provided one that literally meets that measure.
Air Force Col. Mike Fossum is currently serving aboard the International Space Station. Monday, the crew closed the hatch between the ISS and Space Shuttle Atlantis, the final shuttle mission in the program's history.
Before Atlantis undocked Tuesday, Fossum snapped off a picture of the spacecraft and sent it out via the social media website Twitter, adding the following message:
My first Twit from space! Pict I took tonight - Atlantis packed for home.
It was Fossum's first tweet since June 7, the day he lifted off from Russia for a six-month stay on ISS. His Twitter page is at http://twitter.com/astro_aggie. The picture itself can be viewed by clicking here.
The 1980 graduate of Texas A&M was on Space Shuttle Discovery twice, first in 2006 and again in 2008. He walked in space three times each during those missions.
