First Undergraduate Studies Week At Texas A&M Set to Begin Monday`

COLLEGE STATION Several departments dedicated to undergraduate studies at Texas A&M University are planning the first ever Undergraduate Studies Week, set for Monday through Wednesday (Sept. 9-11). The majority of the week’s events will be held in the Memorial Student Center Great Hall.

Organizers say the event is planned to allow students and faculty and staff, including advisors, to learn about programs, internships and available opportunities, as well as to receive information and resources provided by the undergraduate studies departments. They invite everyone in the campus community to come meet their staff, participate in a variety of activities, collect giveaways and participate in drawings for prizes.

Schedule of Activities
Monday Sept. 9
11 a.m. – 3 p.m. in the MSC Great Hall
The Academic Success Center will offer opportunities to learn about the “Commit to Success” and “Revolving Study Skills Workshops.”
Honors and Undergraduate Research will let participants test their knowledge in the “Are you smarter than a freshman” game show.
Peer Academic Services offers a chance to play the “Jeopardy” game show.

Information and resource tables will be hosted by Professional School Advising, the Public Policy Internship Program, Transition Academic Program, Undergraduate Studies and the University Writing Center.

Tuesday, Sept.10
11 a.m. – 3 p.m. in the MSC Great Hall
The Public Policy Internship Program will offer an opportunity to “Ask a Former Intern” about the application process, interviews and their experiences.

Peer Academic Services, Professional School Advising, Transition Academic Program and Undergraduate Studies will once again offer resource tables.

9 a.m. – Noon and again from 1 – 4 p.m. in the YMCA second floor conference room, the Academic Success Center will offer “Revolving Study Skills” workshops.

Wednesday, Sept.11
11 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the MSC Great Hall
The Academic Success Center will offer opportunities to learn about the “Commit to Success” workshops and receive a bookmark and Peer Academic Services and Undergraduate Studies will once again offer information and resource tables.

11 a.m. – 3 p.m. at traveling events around campus, the University Writing Center will offer participants who find their traveling event on campus an opportunity to win a $35 Barnes & Noble gift card. Participants also can enter on Twitter and Facebook.

The events are sponsored by the Office of the Associate Provost for Undergraduate Studies, Academic Success Center, Honors and Undergraduate Research, Peer Academic Services, Professional School Advising, Public Policy Internship Program, Transition Academic Program, Undergraduate Studies and the University Writing Center.
