After being on the rise in recent years, some crimes are on the decline in the twin cities so far for 2012.

News 3 looked into what's up, what's down and even though property crime cases are down, why they remain a big problem.

Sam Turner's next door neighbors in College Station are just the latest crime statistic.

Their home was burglarized Monday while they weren't home.

"Yeah, they had been robbed earlier in Spring break. I think some cops came over and talked to us about it, but I have no idea. That is pretty crazy to get robbed twice in a year," said Turner, a Texas A&M Senior.

Burglaries have dropped off for the Month of June in CS. This year 88 were reported while last June there were 119.

And for the year so far 471 total burglaries were reported, while last year 658.

In Bryan burglaries are also down from January through June with 472. That's down from 785 last year.

Aggravated Assaults there Dropped from 55 last year to 43.

In College Station they jumped 20 percent from 25 last year to 30 in 2012 between the months of January through May.

While some crimes are up in College Station, Texas A&M Police are also staying busy investigating problems they rarely see.

Campus police are still looking for two men who attacked a man sitting outside the Evans Library Saturday night stealing $100 cash and one might have had a knife.

"There is not nearly as many students... Kind of easier to pick off single targets and do a lot more robbery I guess," said Turner.

In light of the incident on campus and now at his next door neighbor's Sam Turner will be taking extra precautions.

Bryan Police say they monitor crime trends and deploy special units when they notice increased activity.

CSPD also steps up its presence in places they see ongoing problems.
