The Texas A&M student killed in a train accident was laid to rest this morning in Houston.
19-year-old Garrett Luce died after being hit by a train early Sunday morning near University Drive and Wellborn Road in College Station.
Police say the A&M sophomore was alone at the time of the accident. It happened early Sunday at the train tracks along Wellborn road and university drive.
Luce was pledging the Kappa Alpha fraternity this year and was with his friends at the Northgate District hours before the accident.
Union Pacific Railroad representatives say the train engineer saw something on the tracks when the train was about a quarter of a mile away. Union Pacific said they tried to brake, but it was too late.
Police say Luce's body was sent to Travis County for autopsy, and it will take weeks to determine if alcohol was involved. The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission is conducting its own investigation.
