COLLEGE STATION The George Bush Presidential Library Center at Texas A&M is marking a milestone.
It's celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the presidency of George H.W. Bush
A number of events Friday and on the weekend, including panel discussions, are examining lessons learned, and discussing current and future challenges facing America.
While former President Bush is known for the foreign affairs challenges he faced while in office, many of us forget the broad domestic agenda he pushed, including passage of the Clean Air Bill and the Americans With Disabilities Act.
A new statue of Bush was unveiled, with an introduction by former Vice President Dan Quayle.
"You've climbed many mountains, fought many battles. You've jumped out of a few airplanes, but most gratifying for me today as I stand before you and Barbara, is to say that you are still a very special friend."
That statue stands 8 feet tall in the Barbara Bush Rose Garden.
Some of those taking part in the panel discussions included 41's White House Chief of Staff, John Sununu, U.S. Senator Tom Harkin of Iowa, and former U.S. Senator Alan Simpson of Wyoming.
