COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Texas A&M Athletics will be selling pallets of Kyle Field’s grass playing surface which will be removed at season’s end as part of the redevelopment of the stadium.

The buy-it-now online sale will start on Monday, Oct. 14, at 10 a.m. on AggieAthletics.com. Texas A&M will harvest the playing surface following the final home game on Nov. 9. Each harvested pallet will cost $400 and contains approximately 450 square feet of sod. The buyer will be required to pick-up on Sunday, Nov. 10. No requests for specific sections of the field will be accepted.

A limited number of single squares of the grass will be offered for $20 each via the website.

No “day of” sales will be conducted on Nov. 10. All quantities will be pre-sold via AggieAthletics.com.

A new natural grass playing surface is being grown off-site and will be installed prior to the start of the 2014 season as Kyle Field. Plans for the redeveloped Kyle Field call for the playing surface to continue to be natural grass once the project is complete for the 2015 season.

Each buyer will receive a certificate of authenticity signed by longtime Texas A&M fields manager Leo Goertz. Also, each buyer will receive a “care guide” containing instructions and suggestions for grass care from Goertz.

Kyle Field’s grass is tifway-bermuda which is over seeded with rye grass.
