In less than 3 years after closing it's doors, the Memorial Student Center at Texas A&M is getting ready to open it's doors again. 61 years to the day, the University will rededicate the building in the heart of campus to the Aggies who have died defending this country.

Saturday, thousands of Aggies will get a chance to go inside the "living room" of the campus.

Construction fences are all that some students know of the MSC.

But soon, that all changes.

The Memorial Student Center is opening it's doors again. This time with a brand new feel.

"The bigggest difference is just how open it feels," says Elizabeth Andrasi. She is the62nd MSC President and one of many students who have played a part in the renovation.

Out of the total 400,000 square feet, nearly 71,00 is brand new. Including what could be the biggest ballroom in the Brazos Valley.

"Before this, we had smaller ballrooms in different parts of the building," explains Andrasi.

In addition to the new spaces added to the building, the over all feel of the building has changed. Thanks to new skylights.

"It just opens the whole feeling up," smiles Andrasi.

"The skylights throughout the building... we actually have sunlight in the basement."

A family that's been scattered thanks to construction.

"Now, all of these big events can come back into the building, the heart of campus, and really be apart of the aggie hustle and bustle," says Andrasi.

The Memorial Student Center Rededication ceremony is Saturday morning in front of the Loyalty entrance near Rudder Tower. Things are scheduled to start at 10 a.m.

It will be 61 years to the day since the original dedication.

If you can't make it out to campus, KBTX is live streaming the ceremony.
