Texas A&M University's first football season in the SEC is in the books, literally.
After such a memorable season, the Bryan/College Station Eagle is creating a book to commemorate the Aggies' incredible season.
The Eagle's Executive Sports Editor Robert Cessna has been at the paper for 37 years.
He's seen a lot of Aggie football in his time but he says nothing compares to 2012.
"It's just been unbelievable," said Cessna.
After such an incredible ride that was the first season in the SEC, The Eagle is commemorating it with a book called Extraordinary. It's a look back on the year told through articles and pictures from each and every game from Florida to the Cotton Bowl.
"It's a way to relive the season once again starting from going to the SEC, culminating to winning the Heisman Trophy, beating Oklahoma in the Cotton Bowl, a team that over the years had given A&M problems. I mean there was so much to this season," said Cessna.
"It's the first year I've covered A&M where the team actually got better as the year went along," said Eagle Photographer Stuart Villanueva.
Villanueva usually takes around 1500 pictures during the game. While you'll see a handful of the incredible moments in time he captures in the pages of the paper, the book will have hundreds more of the memories that will last a lifetime.
"It was such a historical thing, it really begged to be done," said Villanueva.
"You name it, we've tried to do it in this book," said Cessna.
The 160 page book will also have contributions from former President George H.W. Bush, John David Crow, and Kevin Sumlin.
"It's new territory for us, we're going to be all excited when it's done. I feel like that on days we put out a four page sports section but now putting out 160 pages, I think my grey hair is even grayer now," joked Cessna.
Fortunately the book will also be in full color glory.
The book Extraordinary will be released in March and will be available at local book stores but you can preorder the book and save $10 off the cover price. To find out more about the book or preorder it, we've got a link below.
