This Saturday’s commencement ceremony at Prairie View A&M University will be special for graduates. Family and friends will gather to cheer them on and celebrate their accomplishments. But two graduates won’t have to look further than the chair next to them for family encouragement.
Identical twins Richard and Ryan Fauci, both political science graduates from McKinney, will graduate together at 12 p.m. and be commissioned into the United States Navy during a special ceremony at 6 p.m. Saturday. The twins will both be headed to the USS Bataan in Norfolk, VA after graduation. The Fauci twins’ graduation and commissioning make them the second and third members of the Fauci family to walk the hallowed halls of PVAMU. Older cousin Lt. Robert Fauci graduated from the University and was commissioned in the Navy in 2007.
In addition to the Faucis, over 900 students will receive bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees during the commencement ceremony. The commencement speaker for the 8:30 a.m. ceremony is Dr. Willie F. Trotty, vice president for research and dean of the Graduate School. President George C. Wright will be the commencement speaker for the 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. ceremonies. The Navy ROTC Commissioning Ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 11 in the Opal Johnson Smith Auditorium of the Willie A. Tempton, Sr. Memorial Student Center.
