Film magazine "Variety" has reported that dancer-singer Willa Ford has signed to star as Anna-Nicole Smith in an independent biopic that will begin shooting next week.
According to the magazine, the previously announced film, "Anna Nicole," is produced by Jack and Joseph Nasser, and will be made by TV director, Keoni Waxman.
The movie will cover Smith's life from the age of 17 until her death in February 2007, and will document her success as a Playboy centerfold, Guess model and actress, her marriage to billionaire oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall II, the death of her son, Daniel Smith and her own death just five months after the model/actress gave birth to a baby girl, Dannielynn.
A long standing and bitter paternity dispute over Dannielynn was finally settled Tuesday when Judge Stephen Isaacs, Supreme Court Justice in the Bahamas ruled in favor of Smith's ex-boyfriend, photographer Larry Birkhead based on DNA tests conducted by Dr. Michael Baird.
Willa Ford is best known for her US hit single, "I Wanna Be Bad" and her debut album "Willa Was Here."
She was also a performer on the third season of ABC's "Dancing With the Stars."
