Thursday at the Washington Monument in the nation's capitol, the National Anthem Project is kicking off its Grand Finale.
The project, a multi-year effort to re-teach American's to sing the "Star-Spangled Banner." According to a Harris poll, two out of three American's don't know the words to the anthem-a statistic which led to the project's beginning.
Last year, the projected went on a 62-city tour, stopping in all 50 states.
Thursday, thousands of kids, teachers and music supporters were in Washington DC singing our national anthem as part of the finale celebration.
Besides here in DC, thousands of schools nationwide joined in, by simultaneously singing the anthem in their classrooms at 2 p.m. EDT.
