COLLEGE STATION, TX — With the move to the Southeastern Conference, the Aggie Yell Leaders and the Former Yell Leader Association are embracing the change as First Yell will move to Kyle Field with an event featuring “Texas Music—Aggie Style”.

The event is set for Friday, Sept. 7 beginning at 8 p.m. and will end by 11 p.m. in time for Midnight Yell Practice.

A country concert featuring three former students—Robert Earl Keen ’78, Rick Trevino ’93, and Granger Smith ’02, will be held at the Zone at Kyle Field.

First yell as an event originated some 13 years ago as an attempt by the Yell Leaders and the Former Yell Leader Association to create excitement for the upcoming football season and to make the first Midnight Yell Practice the biggest and best Midnight Yell of the year.
Through the years there have been numerous A&M organizations such as the Singing Cadets, the Aggie Wranglers and other student groups who have participated along with some national comedians such as Bill Cosby.

This season with the first home game being the first SEC game at Kyle Field, excitement is at an all-time high. The Florida Gators are the first SEC opponent for the Aggies and the game will be played on Saturday, Sept. 8 with kick scheduled for 2:30 p.m. and will be televised by ESPN.

Texas A&M is known nationally as a tradition-rich institution and one of the top traditions is Midnight Yell Practice. The yell leaders and the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band step off from behind Duncan Dining Hall in the Corps of Cadets quad and march over to Kyle Field. Crowds in the neighborhood of 20,000 to 30,000 congregate to practice yells, hear stories and sing songs that are held so dear, to prepare for the football game. No facet is overlooked at Midnight Yell Practice as another tradition holds, when the Aggies score on the field-- Aggies score in the stands by kissing their dates. When lights go out at Midnight Yell, you practice scoring.

At the conclusion of First Yell, those who attend the event will have a great vantage point to take in the proceedings at Midnight Yell Practice, or if they so choose may move over to the east side of the stadium to participate in Midnight Yell.

Tickets range from $52 in the Zone Club, $32 for the goal line stands (sections 116-133), $27 in the touchdown terrace (sections 401-426), $22 for the side stage and $12 general admission bench seats in the upper deck of the Zone. Texas A&M students can purchase general admission bench seats for $10 with a valid TAMU ID at the Ticket Center, there is a two-ticket limit per student.

At this point, alcoholic beverages will be available in the Zone Club only. Regular concession stands will be open in other seating areas.
Tickets for this historic event are currently on sale at the 12th Man ticket office located inside the Zone at Kyle Field or by visiting the website, www.12thmanfoundation.com or by calling 1-888-99-AGGIE (888-992-4443) or 979-845-2311.
