A thief with a taste for high-dollar whiskey made a daring theft this weekend at a local liquor store.

A man entered Bottle and Brew Liquor Store, 111 I-45 South, at around 4 p.m. Saturday. The thief browsed before stuffing a boxed bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue Label Scotch Whiskey down his pants and ran out before the owner could stop him.

The whiskey is valued at $199. The owner of Bottle and Brew was not able to provide any more information about the thief other than he was a black man.

Investigators are looking into evidence to get more information in the case.

“We did get the store’s recording of the surveillance video,” Huntsville Police Lt. Jim Barnes said.

“We are going to look at the tape and hopefully try to get an identification or a better description of the suspect.”
