Graveside services for Dalton N. "Bill" Vance, 91, a former resident of Bryan are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 29th at Masonic Cemetery in Caldwell with Rev. Sidney Akin Jr. officiating. Interment will follow. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday at Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville. Mr. Vance died Friday morning in St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan.
"Bill", as he was known to family and friends, was born in Bryan, May 9, 1916, the son of Miles Marion and Jessie McDougald Vance. He attended school in Bryan where he was a football player.
He was married to Mildred Warlick on March 7, 1942. Bill worked as an electrical superintendent for nuclear power plant construction projects. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Somerville. Family members said that he loved working in his yard and enjoyed hunting.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters-in-law, F.D. (Granny) and Mary Andrews Vance, and Quinn Dink and Orbin Beseda; sisters and brothers-in-law, Vera and W. N. Tucker and Gladys and Paul A. Nelson.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Wincy Lane and Bill Williams of Kerrville; son, Gary Dalton Vance of Lyons; three grandchildren, Shannon Lynn Williams, Stasi Vance, Jessica Vance; three great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
