Funeral services for Katie Iola (Woods) Schroeder, 98, of Lyons are set for 10 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 2008 at Strickland Funeral Home Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Rudy Junek and Rev. Henry Stovall officiating.
Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery in Somerville. Visitation will be from 11 to 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday.
Mrs. Schroeder died Monday at Trinity Care Center in Brenham. "Miss Katie", as she was known to her friends, was born in Burleson County, Texas, October 5, 1909, the daughter of John Anton and Mary Mattie Woodburn Woods. She was married to Bob Schroeder on March 29, 1933 and was a homemaker. She was a loyal member of Lone Oak Baptist Church near Snook.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, a son, Tommy Schroeder, a sister, Annie Bates, and a brother, Jessie Woods.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Audrey and Monroe Hejl of Snook; a sister, Lorene Schrader of Lyons; a brother, Sammie Woods of Caldwell; two grandchildren, Darla Peters and Jeff Hejl; three
great-grandchildren, Cameron Peters, Caleb Peters and Hannah Hejl; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Family members have requested that memorials be made to Lone Oak Baptist Church, P.O. Box 300, Snook, Texas 77878.
Serving as pallbearers will be Kevin Peters, Cameron Peters, Caleb Peters, Jeff Hejl, Jimmie Joe Svec, and Frank Surovik.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville.
