Kuvlesky, William Peter
June 29, 1933 – May 5, 2008
William Peter Kuvlesky, 74, of College Station passed away Monday at College Station Medical Center. Private family services will be held.
Bill was born in North Braddock, Pa. He grew up on a dairy farm in western Pa. and graduated from Albion Area High School. He served three years in the Marine Corp from which he was honorably discharged. Bill attended Penn State University where he received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees. He and his family moved to College Station where he was a professor in the Departments of Rural Sociology and Sociology for 33 years. He retired in 1997 as Professor Emeritus.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Anna Kuvlesky; his son, Mike Kuvlesky; and his sister, Pat Jenkins.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Eileen Kuvlesky of College Station; his children and their spouses; William Peter Jr. and Vanessa Kuvlesky of Kingsville, Lisa and Leon Bradway of Annapolis, Md., Faith and Pat McConnell of College Station, Andrew Kuvlesky of Bryan, and Jennifer Kuvlesky (Widow of Mike Kuvlesky) of Austin; siblings, Ed Kuvlesky and wife, Marci of Vero Beach, Fla. and Bud Kuvlesky and wife, Sandy of Port Alleghany, Pa., Kathryn Lynott and husband, Bob of State College, Pa.; five grand-daughters, Casey, Kellie and Kristi McConnell, Eileen Bradway and Samantha Kuvlesky.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, 603 Church Ave., College Station, TX 77840 or The Texas A&M Foundation for the benefit of the Sociology Dept., 401 George Bush Dr., College Station, TX 77840.
