Carie Marie Hunter Jones, 91, died peacefully on Sunday, June 28, 2009. Services are set for 10 a.m. Thursday, July 2, at First United Methodist Church, located at 506 E. 28th St. in Bryan. Interment will follow at College Station Cemetery. Carie Marie was born on November 8, 1917, in Fort Worth to Robert and Ella Hunter. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Bryan and the Amiga Sunday School Class. After moving to Houston, she joined John Wesley United Methodist Church. She was a lifelong Aggie fan and supporter of anything A&M. Aggies could always find a home-away-from-home at 408 Brookside Dr. Mimi, as she was known to many, was an extremely creative and talented woman with a sharp sense of humor. She could knit, needlepoint and exchange puns with the best. She was preceded in death by her sister, Louise Beard; two brothers, Homer and Leland Hunter; and her beloved husband of more than 62 years, Drahn Jones, professor emeritus at Texas A&M University. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Carolyn Jones and Larry and Jan Jones; five grandchildren and their spouses, Cari and Mark Kirk, Randall and Amy Jones, Brian and Sarah Jones, Lara Marie and Aaron Theilhorn and Hunter and Anna Jones; and nine great-grandchildren, Taylor, Kyle, Nathan, Nora, Noble, Naomi, Madelyn, Connally and Cate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the choir at John Wesley United Methodist Church, 5830 Bermuda Dunes, Houston, TX 77069, or American Hospice of Houston.
