Michael "Mike" Townsend, 55, passed away Sunday afternoon, June 28, 2009 at his home in Roans Prairie. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, West F.M. 1696 in Bedias, Texas. Services are set for 2 p.m. Thursday, July 2, at the funeral home with Pastor David Branson, of Harvest Field Church in Carlos, officiating. Interment will follow at Old Oakland Cemetery in Roans Prairie. Friends are invited to share memories with the family after the services at the Roans Prairie Community Center. Mike was an "Army Brat", born in Wisbaum, Germany on April 10, 1954 to Rose Mary and Robert Arthur Townsend. He was educated in Germany and also lived in Spain, New York, Louisiana and Wichita Falls, Texas before moving to Grimes County in 1980. He worked as an ironworker and a gas treatment plant operator and he especially loved riding his Harley. He was proud of being a part of the "Make a Christmas Happen" for local children and the "Run for Wheels" events. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Deborah "Debbie" (Tolf) Townsend; son, Nicolas Townsend; his adopted step-mom, Mary Tolf, of Orlando, Fla.; brothers and sisters, Pattie Erat, of Germany, Brenda Hudson, of Wichita Falls, Joe Townsend, of Humble; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Pallbearers will be Chris Townsend, Joe Townsend, George Townsend, Mike Pulkkinen, Marcus Lovell and Rick Seneff. The Townsend family would like to express their gratitude on behalf of Mike to his wife and son, The Lake Loons, and friends that have helped in so many ways. Arrangements are under the care of Southern Heritage Funeral Home of Bedias. |
