Joe C. Wallace entered into rest on July 1, 2009 at the age of 76. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, July 6, at A&M United Methodist Church. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, July 5 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station. Mr. Wallace will be interred in the Aggie Field of Honor at Memorial Cemetery of College Station at a later date. Joe was born in San Antonio, the son of James and Anne Wallace. He was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and was a member of the Texas A&M Class of "53." While at A&M he was in "A" Troop Calvary, was the Fish Drill Team Commander, on the Corps Staff and First Division Staff. As a senior Joe was a Cadet Colonel and First Division Commander and the Ross Volunteer Commander. Mr. Wallace was a Distinguished Military Student and Distinguished Military Graduate and graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. Mr. Wallace spent two years in the U.S. Army and then an addition sixteen years in the Texas National Guard and the U.S. Army Reserve, retiring as a Lt. Col. In civilian life, he spent 20 years with Exxon and was then V.P. of Marketing at Energy Corp. of Louisiana (1973-1976), Senior V.P. of Trading at Northeast Petroleum Corp. (1976-1983) In 2002 Joe retired from the Texas A&M Foundation as Planned Giving Officer, raising private gifts for Texas A&M. Survivors include his wife, Constance N. Wallace; children, Joe Wallace, Jr. and Karen, Florence Wallace McGonigle and Ron, Jim Wallace and Lisa, Jeanie Wallace Dufour and Marc, David Wallace and Kelly; eighteen grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Anne Jacquelin Martin.
