The Bryan Vikings beat the Navasota Rattlers 28-14 Thursday night at Merrill Green Stadium.

The College Station Cougars (5-0, 1-0) will travel to Waco on Friday to take on the University Trojans (0-5, 0-1) at Waco ISD Stadium. The Cougars are coming off 65-7 win over Bryan last week which vaulted them to number 9 in the Class 5A poll.

The A&M Consolidated Tigers (3-1, 1-0) will celebrate homecoming Friday night as they host the Temple Wildcats (3-2, 1-0) Friday night at Tiger Field.

A person familiar with J.J. Watt's condition says the Houston Texans' star defensive lineman had back surgery Thursday and it is expected to miss the rest of the season.

No. 9 Texas A&M will hit the road for a third straight Saturday when the Aggies travel to Columbia, S.C. for a 3 p.m. contest with the South Carolina Gamecocks at Williams-Brice Stadium. The Aggies will be trying to improve to 5-0 for a third straight season under Sumlin, which hasn’t been done at Texas A&M since Homer Norton’s Aggies started the 1939, 1940 and 1941 seasons with at least eight straight wins.
