The Aggies and LSU Tigers have a rich history of playing each other on the football field. Saturday is the 51st all-time meeting.

Besides Arkansas, the Aggies have played LSU the most among SEC teams. It's the Tigers that take center stage this week, in an all A&M against LSU Old Army Rewind.

We begin with a game Aggies would like to forget, the last meeting between the two in the 2010 Cotton Bowl. The Aggies led most of the first half. Cyrus Gray's halfback pass touchdown pass to Uzoma Nwachukwu put A&M up 17-14, but the Tigers found their passing game and outscored A&M 27-7 the rest of the way. Jordan Jefferson threw three touchdown passes to Hempstead native Terrance Tolliver in the Bayou Bengals' 41-24 win.

Before that, you have to go back to 1995 for the last meeting between the Aggies and the Tigers, and that's a game the Ags remember fondly. Leeland McElroy racked up 359 all purpose yards, 229 rushing, 49 receiving, and 81 on kick returns and ran for three touchdowns as the 3rd ranked Aggies took down the Tigers 33-17.

Texas A&M's last trip to Tiger Stadium was another Aggie win in the series. McElroy proved to be the thorn in the Tiger's side in this one as well. LSU's defense gave the Tigers a 13-9 third quarter lead. Tory James picked off a Corey Pullig pass and returned it for a touchdown. McElroy got free on a 59 yarder in the 4th quarter, his second score of the game, and the Aggies got past the Tigers 18-13.

Another Aggie running back lit up LSU in 1991. Greg Hill ran for 212 yards, a record that still stands for the most yards gained by a freshman in the first game of his career. He added two touchdowns and the Wrecking Crew limited LSU to 31 yards rushing on 26 attempts as the Aggies rolled 45-7 at Kyle Field.

1990 is the last time LSU beat Texas A&M in Death Valley. Todd Kinchen had 215 all purpose yards, that included a 79 yard touchdown catch in the fourth quarter to put LSU on top 10-0. The Tigers came out on top 17-8, handing the 11th ranked Aggies their first loss of the season.

The 1989 battle between the Aggies and Tigers was the first of 123 victories for R.C. Slocum at Texas A&M. Larry Horton returned the opening kick off 92 yards to get the Slocum era off to a great start. The Aggies never gave up the advantage as Texas A&M upset the 7th ranked Tigers 28-16.

The Tigers last win at Kyle Field came 25 years ago in 1987. Victor Jones ran for a pair of first half touchdowns and the Tiger defense limited Texas A&M to 229 yards and three points as 6th ranked LSU beat the 15th ranked Aggies 17-3.
