Looking back through Aggie history, the week of September 22nd has a wide variety of opponents with some varying results.
So, we blow the dust off the different tapes and settle in for a trip back in time in this week's Old Army Rewind.
Five years ago, in 2007, the Aggies made the long trip to Miami on a Thursday night, and left the Orange Bowl with a loss. Miami put the game away early, taking a 24-0 lead into the halftime break and leading 31-0 before the Aggies got on the board. The Hurricanes blew away the Aggies 34-17.
Ten years back, another loss to an ACC team, this one a lot closer and at Kyle Field. Frank Beamer's Virginia Tech Hokies limited the Aggies to just 156 yards. Lee Suggs plowed in from a yard out in the fourth quarter for the only touchdown of the game as the Hokies topped the Ags 13-3.
Turn back the clock 15 years this week, and you'll find a blow out win over Southwestern Louisiana. A&M grabbed a 24-0 lead in the first quarter, the big play this 41 yard touchdown toss from Brandon Stewart to Chris Cole. And Dante Hall delivered the fireworks to start the second quarter. A 70 yard touchdown to make it a 31-0 game. The Aggies go on to a 66-0 victory.
Twenty year ago, the eventual Southwest Conference champs picked up a non-conference win at Missouri. The Tigers grabbed a 10-0 lead but the fifth ranked Aggies battled back. This 73 yard Jeff Granger to Tony Harrison catch and run pulled A&M within three, then Granger hit Greg Hill to put the Aggies ahead to stay as the Maroon and White went on to a 26-13 win.
25 years back in the archives, the Aggies pulled off an upset win over tenth ranked Washington at Kyle Field. Keith Woodside gave the Aggies the early lead, outrunning the Huskies 77 yards to the end zone. A&M would never look back, getting a Lafayette Turner touchdown on this Washington punt on the way to a 29-12 win.
Also this week in Aggie History, 6th ranked A&M picked up a 33-17 win at 7th ranked Texas Tech in 1977.
40 years ago, 9th ranked LSU took care of A&M 42-17 at Death Valley.
55 years back, in 1957, Bear Bryant's 2nd ranked Aggies beat Maryland 21-13.
