Looking back through Aggie history, the week of September 29th has a wide variety of opponents with some varying results.
So, we blow the dust off the different tapes and settle in for a trip back in time in this week's Old Army Rewind.
Turn back the clock five years and you'll find an Aggie win over baylor to begin Big 12 play. A&M broke a three all tie in the second quarter when Mike Goodson catches this screen from Stephen McGee, breaks a tackle, and leaves the bears in the dust on a 58 yard score to put the aggies ahead for good. Jorvorskie Lane, McGee, and Jerrod Johnson added touchdown runs as the aggies rolled up 352 yards on the ground in a 34-10 win.
Ten years ago the Aggies took care of Louisiana Tech at home to improve to 3-and-1 on the season. Dustin Long went up top to Jamar Taylor in the first quarter to give the Aggies a lead they'd never give up. Derek Farmer ran for 119 yards and this touchdown to help seal the deal in a 31-3 texas A&M win.
15 years back, in 1997, the Aggies met North Texas at Texas Stadium. This game was actually tied at ten at the half, but a big play on special teams put the Ags over the top. Jeff Wilson with the huge hit on the punt, Michael Jameson recovers. It lead to a Tiki Hardeman touchdown to help put A&M ahead to stay. Hardeman ran for 124 yards, dante hall added 156 and the Aggies pulled out a 36-10 win.
25 years ago this week the Aggies picked up a road win at Southern Miss. Certain freshman QBs made quite the debut. Bucky Richardson ran for 102 yards, fellow freshman Darren Lewis added 103 and the 16th ranked Aggies topped Brett Favre's Golden Eagles 27-14.
