Texas A&M
Players to watch - Offense
Ben Malena
The Texas A&M offense has been pretty balanced this season averaging 254 yards passing and 208 yards rushing. Ben Malena is the team leader among running backs gaining 145 yards this season and scoring two touchdowns. He is one of three running backs that should see action Saturday and a solid ground game will help the Aggies move the ball and try to take control of this game.
Players to watch - Defense
Julien Obioha
True freshman defensive end Julien Obioha has been solid for the Aggies this season. In three starts this season Obioha has recorded five tackles and a sack. He has also forced a fumble. With Damontre Moore's early season success, teams may begin focusing on Moore which could give Obioha a chance to make more plays. If so, he will have to take advanatge of those chances to help the Aggie defense continue getting better.
Keys to the Game
The Aggie defense has put a lot of pressure on opposing quarterbacks and they need to keep that up Saturday to make life tough for the Arkansas offense. The Aggies lead the nation in sacks averaging five per game.
The A&M defense has been solid this season but they need to create more turnovers. This season, the Aggies have only two takeaways but they did score last week on a Deshazor Everett interception return for a touchdown.
The Aggie offense has been hard to stop once is gets rolling. On Saturday it would be good to get rolling earlier. On the year, the Aggies have scored only 17 points in the first quarter. The team has put up 118 points over the final three quarters.
Arkansas
Players to watch - Offense
Tyler Wilson
The Arkansas offense is led by senior quarterback Tyler Wilson. He has thrown for 982 yards and eight touchdowns in three games this season. Wilson did not play in the Razorbacks 52-0 loss to Alabama after suffering a concussion against Louisiana Monroe.
Players to watch - Defense
Alonzo Highsmith
On the other side of the ball, the Hogs are led by linebacker Alonzo Highsmith. He is the team's top tackler with 40 stops. Highsmith has three tackles for loss on the year and has recorded a sack. He has also recovered a fumble.
Keys to the Game
The Razorbacks need good things to happen early. The team is riding a three game losing streak so a good beginning to the game would help build some positive momentum.
The Hogs need to keep their emotions in check Saturday. This is their first game outside the state of Arkansas this year so it is the first time this team has been in a hostile enviornment this year.
Arkansas has to cut down on their turnover Saturday. For the season, the Razorbacks are minus 10 in turnover margin. The team has two takeaways in four games.
Aggies
Texas A&M enters Saturday's game 2-1 on the season after back to back wins over SMU and South Carolina State. In those games, the Aggies outscored their opponents 118 to 17. Now, the focus turns to Arkansas as Texas A&M looks to end a three game losing streak to the Razorbacks. All three of those loses came at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington. Now, the series comes back to Kyle Field for the first time since 1991.
"It is a little bit early, 11am for all the fans, but I'm sure the fans won't be worried at all. I'm sure they will be as crazy as they always are. It will be a packed house and everybody will be wired upfor this game," says Jonathon Stewart.
"I would say Jerryworld hasn't been the greatest to us the last few times we have played there, so it will be nice to have Arkansas at home in front of Kyle Field and have that home field advantage," says Ryan Epperson.
Razorbacks
Arkansas brings a pretty powerful offense to College Station. The Razorbaks are second in the SEC putting up just under 295 passing yards a game. The Aggies know first hand just how good Arkansas quarterback Tyler Wilson is. He threw for a school record 510 yards last year against A&M but that was at a neutral site at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington. Now, the Hogs have to try and win at Kyle Field in their first road game of the season.
"Road games are tough but they are fun. It is always a challenge espically at Texas A&M because they have a pretty good fans base and student section, a long tradition there it is going to be loud so offensively it kind of says hey again we are against the world lets go have some fun throw it around, execute and score some points," says Tyler Wilson.
History
Saturday will be the 69th meeting between the Aaggies and Razorbacks on the football field. Arkansas leads the all time series with 41 wins against 24 losses. There have been three ties in the series. Arkansas has won three straight in the series. The Hogs have not won at Kyle Field since 1989.
12th Man
The 12th man for Saturday's game is senior defensive back C.J. Jones. This will be the first game this season sophomore linebacker Justin Bass has not been the 12th man. Jones has recorded one tackle this season and has 20 punt return yards.
