The Blinn College women’s basketball team climbed one spot to reach No. 9 in the NJCAA national polls released today.
The Buccaneers (24-1) are coming off a 71-48 victory over Paris Junior College on Saturday, a win that upped their record to 24-1 on the season and 9-1 in the Region XIV Conference. Blinn’s 24 wins ties the team for the second-most in program history, matching the mark set by Blinn’s 1989 and 2006 teams.
The 2008 Buccaneers won a program-record with 26 victories, and this year’s team looks poised to break that record with five regular-season games remaining.
Blinn is currently on an eight-game win streak, with the Buccaneers’ only loss this season coming against No. 1-ranked Trinity Valley.
Sophomore forward Audrisa Harrison leads the Buccaneers with 15.4 points per game, the sixth-best mark in the conference, while freshman forward Fatima Adams ranks among the league leaders with 11.5 points per game. Sophomore guard Jazzmin Parker is averaging 10.4 points.
The Bucs take on Angelina College at 4 p.m. Saturday in Lufkin.
