HOUSTON, Texas – The Blinn Buccaneer men’s basketball team won its seventh consecutive game here Thursday night, defeating Lone Star College Cy-Fair 88-62 behind 24 points from freshman point guard Daishon Knight.
The Buccaneers, who improved to 13-2 on the season with the victory, have not suffered a loss since Nov. 22.
Thursday’s contest was Blinn’s second game since returning from the Christmas break. The Bucs defeated Lone Star-Tomball 107-64 on Tuesday.
On Thursday, it was Knight, a freshman from Marietta Ga., who led the Bucs’ effort. He is averaging 13.6 points per game this season.
“He came to play,” Blinn coach Tra Arnold said.
Elijah Jones, a 6-foot-7 forward from West Palm Beach, Fla., added 17 points.
“He rebounded, he hit some shots, he attacked the rim hard,” Arnold said. “He did a good job for us.”
The Buccaneers return to Region XIV Conference play Saturday with a 4 p.m. game against Lamar State-Port Arthur. Blinn is off to a 3-1 start in conference play while the Seahawks are 13-3 on the year and 5-0 in Region XIV.
