BRENHAM – The Blinn College volleyball team moved up one spot to No. 2 in the latest NJCAA Top 20 National Poll released today.

The Buccaneers are 22-0 on the season and 4-0 in conference play. On the season, the Buccaneers have defeated 12 ranked or previously ranked teams, including a decisive four set win versus then No. 4 ranked Tyler Junior College on Sept. 22. The Bucs are joined by three other conference teams in the Top 20 Poll, including Tyler Junior College at No. 5, Paris Junior College at No. 13 and Panola College at No. 19. Navarro College also received votes in this week’s poll, narrowly missing out of the top 20.

The 22-0 start ties the second best start in the program’s history and marks the sixth time under head coach David Rehr that the Bucs have started the season with at least 10 consecutive wins. In 2003, Rehr’s first season at Blinn, the Bucs reeled off 41 consecutive wins to start the season.

Blinn is led by middle blocker Courtni Bauer (SO, Pottsboro), who is seventh in the nation in hitting efficiency (49%) and setter Jackie Gerig (Normal Community, IL), who is third in assists per set (10.79).

The Bucs have only 10 regular season games remaining on the schedule, and look to continue their hot streak against Trinity Valley Community College this Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Blinn Gym.

On Oct. 3, the Bucs will host No. 19 Panola College and will kick-off National Breast Cancer Awareness Month by giving out pink spirit towels to the first 200 fans.
