BRENHAM – The Blinn College volleyball team remained ranked No. 2 in the latest NJCAA Top 20 National Poll released today.
The Buccaneers now stand at 24-0 on the season and 6-0 in conference play. The Bucs defeated No. 18 Panola College on Monday 3-1 (25-20, 25-15, 21-25, 25-22) in front of a packed Blinn Gym. With the win, the Buccaneers have defeated 13 ranked or previously ranked teams on the season, including five teams ranked in the top 10.
The 24-0 start marks the second best start in the program’s history. In 2003 the Bucs reeled off 41 consecutive wins to start the season on their way to a Region XIV-District G Conference Championship and a 6th place finish in the national tournament.
The Bucs next travel to Jacksonville on Oct. 6 to face Lon Morris College. In the game, head coach David Rehr will go for his 300th career win with the Buccaneers.
Rehr has served as the head coach since 2003, compiling an impressive record of 299-35 (.895 winning %). He has guided the Bucs to seven regional championships and seven NJCAA National Tournament appearances. In 2008, he led the Bucs to the program’s first national championship and a 33-2 record.
Before arriving at Blinn, Rehr compiled a 80-28 at Frank Phillips College.
