BRENHAM, TX -- The Blinn College football team remains at No. 2 in this week’s NJCAA poll, earning 132 votes and one first place vote.
The Buccaneers improved to 4-0 with a 62-0 rout of Arkansas Baptist College on Saturday at Royse City.
On the season, the Buccaneer offense is averaging a staggering 66 points per contest while allowing only 14. Sophomore running back Marion Grice (Aldine Nimitz) is second in the NJCAA in rushing, with 491 yards on 59 carries and eight rushing touchdowns.
The Bucs (4-0, 1-0) have a bye this week before a showdown against defending national champion and current top-ranked Navarro College on Oct. 1 at Cub Stadium in Brenham. Blinn looks to avenge a disappointing 9-3 loss in 2010, where the Buccaneers final drive failed on the goal line in the closing seconds.
The Bulldogs (3-0, 1-0) are on the road this weekend in a conference game against Kilgore College before travelling to Brenham on Oct. 1 for the most anticipated match-up of the season. The JCGridiron.com Juco “Dirty Thirty” Rankings, which include both the NJCAA and California programs, has Blinn at No. 1 and Navarro at No. 3 in their latest poll.
