BRENHAM, TX -- The fourth-ranked Blinn College softball team won two of its first three games of the season Friday at the opening day of the Blinn Round Robin at Hohlt Park.
Blinn defeated Seminole (Okla.) 9-3 and 5-2 in its first two contests of the season before falling to eighth-ranked Temple Junior College 1-0.
Sophomore Kaci Federwisch (1-1) earned the Buccaneers’ first win of the day behind a home run from freshman Brooke Riemann and two runs driven in by freshman Tommy Garza. Freshman outfielder Tiffani McKnight also drove in a run for the Bucs.
Sophomore pitcher Jocelyn Tacquard earned the win in the next game as the Buccaneers scored four runs in the fourth inning, powered by a two-run home run off the bat of freshman Shelbe Sterling.
Federwisch took the tough-luck loss in Game 3, allowing just one unearned run.
Blinn continues tournament play Saturday with a 6 p.m. game against Northeastern Oklahoma A&M. On Sunday, the Buccaneers play NEO again at noon and Navarro at 4 p.m.
