Blinn College sophomore Rebecca Cluley is headed back to the Lone Star Conference.
The 5-foot-11 guard signed with Texas Women’s University after leading the Buccaneers in 3-pointers and free throw percentage last season, she announced Monday.
Cluley spent her freshman season at Midwestern State University, but after her freshman year she opted to transfer to Blinn, which had recruited her out of Wichita Falls High School. As a sophomore, she averaged 4.8 points for a Buccaneer squad that went 22-10 and reached the Region XIV Conference Tournament semifinals.
Cluley made 25 of 92 shots from 3-point range, a team high, and was 33-of-40 from the free-throw line, the best percentage on the team. She finished with 63 assists compared to 54 turnovers and played almost 500 minutes for the Bucs.
“I didn’t know how good a passer she was until she played for us,” Jenkins said. “That probably surprised me more than anything. If it was a three-on-two or a two-on-one, she always made the right decision.”
Texas Women’s went 13-14 last season, reaching the quarterfinals of the Lone Star Conference Championships.
