Buccaneer Football Could Play Seven Home Games In 2012

The Blinn College football team may open its season in Kansas, but the Buccaneers could play as many as seven ballgames within the friendly confines of Cub Stadium in 2012.

Blinn will open the season in El Dorado, Kan., where it will face a Butler Community College team that finished last season ranked No. 2 in the nation by the NJCAA. After that showdown, the Buccaneers will play three consecutive home games, beginning with a non-conference match-up against Southeast Prep Academy.

The Buccaneers will open Southwest Junior College Football Conference (SWJCFC) play with a home game against Northeastern Oklahoma A&M on Sept. 15. The Buccaneers also have home contests scheduled against Tyler Junior College (Sept. 22) and Kilgore College (Oct. 6). Blinn will celebrate its Homecoming game on Oct. 27 when it hosts Cisco Junior College at 3 p.m. That game will mark the Buccaneers’ regular-season finale.

The SWJCFC semifinals will be held Nov. 3 and the conference championship game will be played Nov. 10. If the Buccaneers earn home-field advantage for the playoffs, they could play as many as seven games at Cub Stadium, located at 1600 East Tom Green Street.

Blinn is coming off a 9-2 season that saw the Bucs ranked No. 1 in the nation for five weeks. Blinn finished the season ranked 10th after making an appearance in the Mississippi Bowl in Biloxi, Miss.
