BRENHAM, TX -- The Blinn Buccaneer women’s basketball team extended its win streak to five games at the Blinn P.E. Building here Wednesday night with an 86-58 victory over the LSU-Eunice Lady Bengals.

Freshman forward Shaniqua Dogins scored a game-high 20 points and sophomore guard Denise White added 15 as the Buccaneers picked up the non-conference victory to improve to 14-2 on the season.
Dogins scored 12 of her points in the first half, helping the Buccaneers take a 36-29 lead by halftime.

“They played a zone against us and I thought our guards did a good job of finding her in the zone,” Blinn head coach Jeff Jenkins said. “When we miss shots, she does a good job of going and getting rebounds and getting points off the offensive glass. She’s an aggressive post player.”

White scored 10 of her 15 points in the second half, and freshman guard Tiara Mitchell scored 10 points in the game’s final three minutes as the Buccaneers outscored LSU-Eunice 50-29 in the second half.
Sophomore point guard Miki Turner finished the contest with 12 points.
The Buccaneers return to Region XIV Conference action Saturday when they host Tyler Junior College at 2 p.m. at the Blinn P.E. Building. The Bucs are 3-2 in conference play.

Tyler eliminated Blinn from the Region XIV Conference Tournament last season and returns four starters from that squad.
“We’ll find out how good we are Saturday,” Jenkins said. “I like our team better this year and I think we’re more athletic, but we’re still playing four sophomores who have been there.”
