BEEVILLE, Texas – The top-ranked Blinn College volleyball team just keeps on winning.
The Buccaneers extended their winning streak to 16 matches here Friday night with a sweep over Coastal Bend, 25-10, 25-18, 25-13.
“Everybody got to play and we played pretty well,” coach Erin Mellinger said.
The Bucs spread the ball on offense as 10 players recorded kills, led by Kariana Castanon-Hill and Jaeda Allen’s seven. Alyssa LaMont led the defense with 13 digs, and Crystal Young had a team-high 27 assists while Rebecca Reeve dished out 26.
Blinn’s main focus in the match was limiting its errors, which Mellinger said overall she was pleased with the team’s effort. The limited errors allowed Blinn to jump out to an early lead over the Lady Cougars and take the first set with a dominating 25-10 victory.
“We tired to keep our errors to five or less and overall we did that,” Mellinger said.
Blinn’s 16-match winning streak dates back to Aug. 31.
The Bucs get a chance to extend that streak on Saturday with a 1 p.m. match at Laredo.
