Following a 20-day break, the Blinn men’s basketball team closed out 2013 with a win Tuesday night.
The Buccaneers beat Lone Star College-Cy Fair 85-66 at the Blinn P.E. Building.
“Any time you can get a win it doesn’t matter,” Blinn (10-3) coach Scott Schumacher said.
After LSC-Cy Fair kept it a five-point game at halftime, 42-37, Blinn used two runs in the second half to pull away, led by freshmen Roderick Harris and Lionheart Leslie. The Bucs played 11 players in their first game back since Dec. 11.
“Everyone that played contributed. All 11 guys got in and all of them showed a lot of positives,” Schumacher said.
Blinn was led by sophomore Macari Brooks’ 19 points. Brooks is averaging more than 22 points per game this season.
Kendall Deveaux scored 15 points, Jourdan Stickler scored 14 and Eddie Alcantara scored 12 points.
Blinn returns to the P.E. Building Saturday at 4 p.m. in a Region XIV Conference against Tyler.
