BRENHAM, Texas – The 12th-ranked Temple College Leopards took both games of an afternoon double-header against the second-ranked Blinn Buccaneers Friday at Hohlt Park.
Temple defeated Blinn 4-1 and 5-1 on the first day of the Blinn Round Robin as the Buccaneers committed seven errors in the two contests.
Blinn committed four miscues in the opening game as freshman Shannon O’Connor took the tough-luck loss. O’Connor (1-2) scattered nine hits while striking out four. She did not walk a batter.
Taylor Guidry hit an RBI triple and Peyton Webb went 2-for-4 to lead the Buccaneer offense.
Temple tallied nine hits off Buccaneer pitchers Katie Castillon and Caitie Carney in the second game, and the Buccaneer offense was held to just three hits. Blinn committed three more errors while falling to 4-3 on the season.
The tournament schedule was rearranged Friday morning after Seminole (Okla.) State and Northeastern Oklahoma A&M opted not to attend due to weather concerns. The Round Robin will now conclude Saturday with Navarro and Temple playing at 10 a.m., San Jacinto vs. Temple at noon, San Jacinto vs. Navarro at 2 p.m. and Blinn vs. Navarro at 4 p.m.
