WACO, Texas – The 16th-ranked Blinn Buccaneers are proving that height isn’t everything.
The Bucs defeated McLennan Community College 74-59 here Saturday behind the strength of two 5-foot-10 posts, as sophomore Audrisa Harrison scored a game-high 19 points and freshman Fatima Adams added 15. The win improved Blinn to 9-0 on the season.
“We call them the twin towers,” said head coach Jeff Jenkins. “They’re playing against 6-2 kids, but they’ve played really well. They’re as quick as guards, and a lot of times it’s hard for post players to guard them. They take it to the hole with their quickness and the opposing posts just can’t keep up with them.”
Blinn led 35-32 heading into halftime.
Rae’Vaughn Barnes led McLennan with 18 points.
“To hold them to 27 points in the second half, we played pretty good defense,” Jenkins said.
The Buccaneers host Southwestern Christian College at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the Blinn P.E. Building. The Bucs defeated SCC 100-57 Tuesday in Terrell.
