BRENHAM, TX -- For the fourth consecutive week, the Blinn Buccaneer football team holds down the No. 1 ranking in the NJCAA Top 20 National Poll. At 8-0 on the season, the Bucs remain one of only five unbeaten teams in the NJCAA, keeping their hopes of a fifth national championship alive.
Although the Bucs maintained the top ranking, they slipped a point in the poll after a narrow 52-45 win over Kilgore College this past weekend. The Bucs (8-0, 5-0 SWJCFC) earned 136 points and four first place votes, while No. 2 Arizona Western College (8-0, 5-0) gained a point to pull within two votes of the Bucs after a 56-17 rout of former No. 18 Glendale Community College (Ariz.).
The Bucs will wrap up the regular-season on Saturday, as they travel to face Cisco College. The Wranglers (3-5, 1-4 SWJCFC) are coming off a 37-14 conference loss to Trinity Valley Community College. Of their five losses on the season, three have been by seven points or less. Kick-off for the SWJCFC game is scheduled for 3 p.m.
