ATHENS, TX -- Sophomore forward Titus Rubles scored 20 points and point guard Dre Evans added 19 as the Blinn Buccaneers defeated the Region XIV North Zone-leading Trinity Valley Cardinals 77-65 here Wednesday night.

The Buccaneers, who improved to 18-5 on the season and 8-4 in conference play, took an 11-point lead into the second half behind a balanced offensive effort.

“We played together as a team and we played hard,” Blinn coach Tra Arnold said. “Trinity Valley is a very good team, we just played really well tonight.”

Sophomore forward Joel Wright added 12 points for the Buccaneers. Blinn has won three of its last four games.

D.D. Scarver, who leads the conference with 25.5 points per game, paced the Cardinals with 17 points while Dominique Elliott added 16.
“I thought we did a good job controlling the pace of the game,” Arnold said. “They wanted to pressure us and take us out of our offense, and we did a good job staying with what we do and kept them from getting quick open looks in transition.”

The Buccaneers travel to Jacksonville on Saturday for a 4 p.m. tip-off against Lon Morris College.
