Buccaneers advance to Region XIV Tournament finals
Dixon scores game-high 23 points to put Bucs on cusp of nationals

TYLER, Texas – For the first time in school history, the Blinn Buccaneers are playing for the Region XIV Tournament championship and a berth to the NJCAA National Championships.
Blinn defeated Jacksonville 83-67 behind a game-high 23 points from sophomore guard Miles Dixon, and will now face Navarro College at 8 p.m. Sunday at Tyler’s Wagstaff Gym. Navarro defeated Lamar State-Port Arthur 78-65 to advance to the finals.
The Buccaneers shot 53.6 percent as Dixon shot 8-of-14, including 2-of-3 from 3-point range. Daishon Knight scored 15 points and forwards Titus Rubles and Joel Wright each scored 14. Rubles grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds.
“We made plays when we needed to throughout the night,” Blinn coach Tra Arnold said.
Elijah Jones scored nine points and Dre Evans added eight.
“It was a good team effort and a good team win,” Arnold said.
Nelson Kirksey scored 21 points to lead Jacksonville.
The Buccaneers are now 28-6 on the season.
